Women’s Senior Fotball – Pre-Season update

Updated: April 12, 2017

Bulls Ladies kicking goals

On Tuesday evening the Karingal Women’s footy team played Pearcedale under lights in their 4th and pre-season practice match, winning by a few goals.

This game capped off an interesting pre-season for the ladies, having built from nothing but 5-6 interested players back in October 2016 to a full list of 25 players of varying ages, experiences and backgrounds. Coach Ben has played footy before concentrating on netball coaching in recent years, Danielle beside him has a long playing and coaching career as well as junior footy administration and current coach of girls junior team. We have recruits who have played both junction and senior women’s footy locally and elsewhere, mums who’s kids are having a kick with our junior club, netballers who always wanted to try footy and youth girls who are following their new and well defined pathway to the ranks of senior football.

The ladies have an even ledger after 4 games, but more importantly have embraced what practice matches are really about – learning a little from each and every one. You can see the improvement in effort, skill level and understanding of the game; you can see the glint of passion for the game in their eyes and th cameradwrie that comes when a team passes through the formation phase and really starts to gel and perform as one

The South Eastern Women’s league kicks off on May 6 and we eagerly await the fixture release. Everyone has seen the success of the AFLW this year and we’re working towards making our team, Club and league just as successful.

Karingal Senior Women train Wednesdays from 6pm at Ballam Park, with the Youth Girls U18 and Firls U15 teams training beforehand. Anyone interested in playing women’s or girls footy for Karingal can call Ben 0404 178211 (senior) or Danielle 0458 304360 (junior teams)
