Football Results 2017

Round 16 had us playing away against Mt Eliza on a windswept day.

We started well and made the most of our opportunity’s up forward with the scores even at quarter time,    The 2nd started in the same vein as the first with both teams backlines controlling the game,  we continued to apply pressure all around the ground and headed into half time 3 points in front.

Like the previous couple of weeks we were taking it up to our more highly rated opponents with every player having impact on the game.  The third quarter didn’t go exactly to script but we were still in striking distance heading into the last.  A few positional changes had us impact the scoreboard early but to Mt Eliza’s credit they conditioned to put pressure on the scoreboard and eventually running out 3 goal winners.

Again a game with many positives for the young Bulls side with Grant Paxton playing his best game for the season with Big Izzy continuing his good form as too Rhys and Jake Kelly.

The reserves took on Mt.Eliza in windy conditions. We started poorly in the first qtr and  Mt.Eliza smashed us at the stoppages. We failed to put them under any pressure and hardly laid a tackle for the qtr which gave them a 6 goal lead at qtr time.

We challenged ourselves to turn it around, and to an extent we did. Our contested ball efforts went up and our tackling pressure was good. Taz, Az and Hads were all working hard in the midfield with limited rotations. The 3rd qtr was quite even, James Paxton and James Pretty were having great games in the backline, both beating their opponents.

Our skills were a little off though and we couldn’t make inroads. We fought it out ok in the last. we had no one on the bench with Taz and Dyl out for the game, the boys were out on their feet but didn’t allow Mt.Eliza to run over us. In the end we went down by 14 goals.

It was good to see our effort didn’t drop off at all. Best Players for the day were, Az Jack, Hads, James Paxton, Pretty and Taz.

We have 2 games to go, and I still think we can jag another win if we work hard enough for it.

Under 19:

A must win game again on sat so it was disappointing to come out so flat. Beaten to the ball and totally outplayed in the first half.

We kept chipping away but we’re getting taught a lesson in work rate by the top team. We missed 7 set shots we would expect to kick yet dominated possession in the last quarter to get within 5 points but couldn’t land the killer blow.

We have beaten every side and pushed the top 2 to a goal but lost 5-6 games by under 10 points to put us in a challenging position.

See what happens the last 2 weeks to determine our season
