Senior:

Away to Chelsea was always gong to be a test of character as we were going into the game with a number of changes to the team.

The conditions were never going to be conducive to a high scoring game and we were intent on hitting the scoreboard early. This wasn’t the case and we again failed to have any real impact at the first break. The second quarters have been our best YTD and through some hard work from the back six and creative play from our mids we were back in the game with only 9 points separating us at half time. The third quarter presented again some challenges with rain having an affect on the games skill level with both teams registering two goals a peace.

The last quarter had the Bulls kicking with the add of a 4 goal advantage and high expectations but our inability to find space and clean disposal we found ourselves 3 points shy at the final siren.

Great to see Jake Kelly put in 4 consistent quarters supported by Izzy, Grant Paxton and Ashcroft who kicked 3 goals.

Special mention to our newest senior Bull in Tommy Baker who showed great poise and balance all day. Great work Tom with many outstanding games ahead.

Our best is good enough now our belief needs to become stronger.

Reserve:

Another frustrating day for the reserves side, despite being a few players short, we were still confident of a win. We kicked into a strong breeze in the first qtr and our first 12 mins was super. we defended well with Taz going well at CHB and had good pressure around the contest, Matt B was leading the way with some strong tackles, but a couple of lapses allowed them a few easy goals.

The second qtr we started off too slow. We turned the ball over too easy and weren’t accountable. it took us half the qtr to get some run going and we finally started to hit the scoreboard and get some momentum. After some words at half time, we came out with plenty of run. Az Jack got plenty of the ball on the wing and Benno, Hads and Darcy had lifted. We were working a lot harder which gave everyone a bit of confidence.

The rain came at the wrong time for us to mount a decent comeback, we had majority of the play in the last half but couldn’t capitalise. Our intensity and pressure was much better as we outscored them in the last half, However we couldn’t recover from our poor first 2 qtrs. and went down by about 4 goals. As I said last week, we are not far away from our first win, but we must play a consistent 4 quarters with everyone contributing.

Best players for the day were, Matt B, Darcy, Az Jack and Hads. Lets enjoy the week off but make sure we do our best to get in a good 2 weeks of training and look forward to getting on the winners list.

U19:

Was great to be back on the winners list this week after 2 ordinary performances. Our ball movement, decision making and execution was the best I’ve seen in 5 years for the 19s, confidence is back with all players contributing on the day. 2 u17s debuted in Jordy Keher (5 goals) and Josh Pohle (2 goals) and really made an impact early and sustained it for 4 quarters.
The back line ran hard all day led by Cassera who had the ball on a string while Tweddle, Hookem, Stewart-fry locked down and set us up while a new look midfield did the tough stuff in tight and ran the lines beautifully.
An all round selfless performance which was the most pleasing thing with multiple goal kickers.
Tommy Corrigan continued his good form with 5 goals while supported by McDonald, Waddell, Keher and Pohle. Saunders, Hinde, Bartling, Murray and the Merdanovic boys racked them up all day and used the footy superbly to cap a good day for the boys.
