Netball Results 2017

A Grade:

Today we decided as a team to go into the game with a different approach. We started off with an excellent pre-game warmup. We also decided to treat this game as another mini final as Mt Eliza are also in the top 4.

Today we focused on our basic skill errors and executing conversions from intercepts. The first 7 minutes we came out firing and we were on holding a 5 goal lead, however, we came into quarter time a draw as we had a little lapse. Second quarter we switched back on and started playing an aggressive focused netball style. Everyone in the team knows their role and they almost played to perfection with some excellent passages of netball against a quality opponent.

Third quarter we decided to use our structures and set up some defensive plays and we were able to capitalise on this and shut down a lot of Mt Eliza’s supply to their tall goaler. The last quarter we decided to mix it up a bit and have some enjoyment as well by putting a couple of players in different positions.

We came away with a comfortable 18 goal win. Standouts for today were Sam, Georgia, Jayde and Courtney.

We are well and truly on our way to building momentum towards our finals series and the playing group are driven more than ever. Well done girls.

B Grade:

Today we played Mt Eliza at Toorak College on an excellent indoor court. We decided to treat this game as a mini final as Mt Eliza are also currently in the top 4 as well. We started a little slow today and the first quarter was really disappointing as we turned the ball over through basic skill errors far too often, however, we were still lucky to be a few goals up at quarter time.

Second quarter was not much better as we continued to show patches of good netball but we undone all our hard work through basic skill errors again. At half time we were still only 6 goals up and felt like we had a challenge on our hands. The second half saw us make some positional changes and we welcomed Brooke back from her ankle injury.

The third quarter was much improved and we finally started hitting our straps with a lead of 16 goals at three quarter time. Our ball transition from the defensive end to the attacking end was a lot more smoother and our feeding into the goalers was on song. Standouts for today were Michelle in the defensive end, Emily in the goaling end and Bridgette in the mid court.

We came away with an impressive 25 goal win and it was a great effort considering we had only one on the bench with a couple out due to illness and injury. We wish those out a speedy recovery.

Thanks to Dani and Isabelle from C grade who hung around as emergencies for us. Well done girls!

C Grade:

Great game today by both teams! We started off a little slow which allowed Mt Eliza to be quiet competitive. 2nd qtr we started to pick up, keeping them at bay through our great defence by Sara, Elise and Mel who was best on today!

3rd qtr mt Eliza played well to peg us back 1. Our attacking started working well, bringing it down thru Kiah and Tayla, feeding it into Steph and Dani to bring home the win by 6 goals.

Well done to Julia who came on at half time and Izzy who goaled and got nearly every rebound for us in the first half!Top effort to these 2 girls!

We are playing great netball leading into the finals and we need to keep the momentum going to grab that chance at the big prize!

D Grade:

Today I couldn’t be happier with the whole team!! Everyone played and put in 100% – unfortunately this didn’t however reflect on the score board as we lost by 10. I am so very proud of how this team have picked themselves up to play a great game.

We have had some hard times in the past 4 games, with injuries, girls away and players playing in new positions at the end of the year because it was needed. Well done to Gabbi who has stepped up to learn to play in the goal ring for our last 3 games and step up she did!

Kelly in defence played a top game today, defending balls all over the court and resulted in receiving best on.

Everyone did their best and played well, for our last 2 games left of the season we will concentrate on having fun and building our percentage just in case of a miracle and we make the top 4!
